Shining Bright Like a Diamond: Dusting myself off and trying again

Yesterday I took a giant leap of faith and officially launched my own Record Label; Diamond Jay Entertainment, and signed myself as the first artist. For several years, I have held onto that 'maybe one-day" mindset that held me back for reasons I was afraid to admit to myself... I wanted so much to follow-through with what I had started with another label...Inspite of all the turmoil in my life before and during the label and recording situationship, it became my escape and I truly had some things to proove, but when I had to walk away, I had to re-focus on what I was really doing and where I want to go musically on my own.

A few years ago, out of emotions and feelings I started working on the Business-Plan and spent money and time into DJE but never launched it...Funny thing my niece of @Queenworkx inspired me to just do it..."you never know TT"...ssssso here I am...out here on this limb.

During a recent radio interview I was asked about the story behind the songs....that my friend is a book...those tracks are merely a chapter in this story...OKAY...LOL

As we officially begin the DJE chapter(s) hold on baby...cuz this too is truly a dream come true!!! In the end I want it to be said that I did exactly what I said I would.

Thank you so much for rocking with me through this here music journey... I am super excited about what we are working on next. Your love and support keeps me motivated....

Music is Life!!

Could-a...Would-a...Should-a: The First But Not The Last - Putting The Excuse Head Game To Rest

Hey Now!!! Yes, I know, It's been a loooong time since I've posted.  So long, I thought today, I need to get back to my roots...LOL  I have been working on my music (promoting behind the scenes) amd doing the grown-up stuff that pays the bills, you know, that four-letter word...WORK...LOL

But this memory popped-up on Facebook and it took me back to when I first started recording music and how I secretly doubted I'd ever get any radio play, fans or recognition... we started at zero followers/likes/shares/subscribers, etc...Now we are doing unbelievable numbers and I couldn't be more grateful and excited about the seemingly endless possibilities

This video is the behind-the-scenes of the filming of my very first professional video for my single "Tune Setting". For me it represents so much growth and passion, it's hard to put into words my feelings at that precise moment, but I knew it was a big check mark off of my music-to-do-list we created about 5 years ago or so.  At the time I was secretly full of doubt, but didn't want to let my team down. I remember thinking how are we going to do this, for real??

A BIG step for us...One time...We sat down with a radio presenter/influencer/promoter friend and he seemed hopeful that with the right amount of money we could influence DJ's/program directors to take a chance.  (my first pay-to-play lesson) I remember, there was some wining and dining and then a coveted DJ mixer invitation which was like an unveiling of new music if you will, somehow, in a room full of Hip-Hop DJ's/radio personalities/artists/producers/etc...yours truly's R&B track was being strategically played in the background....as I kinda shrunk in the corner and observed.  Then the artist showcase began and I nervously stood in front of the group as the event host told the now curious audience a little about me and the writer of the track and then he handed the mic to me and I nervously described "Can't Get on My Base" and for the first time ever the end of that song could not come fast enough, it was hard for me to look out into the audience to see their reaction, because I truly felt like a fish out of water that night.  But once the track stopped I looked out for the first time and actually saw everyone clapping and whistling...People were coming up asking for my contact information and to make sure they received the track to play.  A few weeks later DJ Mind Motion played it on Chuy Gomez's station and it stayed in rotation for a while there and a few other Cali stations...This, was my first radio experience ever and just like in the movies and my dreams it was one of those moments I'll never forget.

Throughout the past few years there have been many other firsts for me musically...Magazine articles, Placing on the DRT, hitting the BBC, Winning an award in the UK, Indie magazine articles, Indie music charts, and so much more... All of this to simply say, I never wanted to look back on myself musically and think...I wonder what could-a, would-a or should-a happened if I would have followed my dreams...So I took the plunge.  There are many reason why I still continue to push myself in-spite of many obstacles, the main one though is I just wanted to finish what I started and get to the end of that list of goals...

Thanks to your continued love and support, we are almost there..and...until that day....we are still dreaming and adding a few more firsts and check-marks to the list.

THANK YOU!!!

Like I ALWAYS say...Life is too short and tomorrow is not promised, make sure the ones you love know that you know that they are loved.

Thank you for your continued love and support...

Mirror Mirror on the Wall Who's the Fairest of Them All: The Fakery is Real Ya Dig?

Transparency is what most of us want in dealing with others; no matter the situation, you expect people's intentions to be as clear as possible. But, in actuality most people are far from transparent even as they see their own reflection in the mirror.... That reflection just might not be the image others see......Oh Jayna don't be so cynical...you might say...Or, that sounds like some emotional BS...LOL...maybe so, but wouldn't it be great if people told you their true intentions and their true selves upon introduction,,Like..How you doing...My name is Jayna...and I don't like liver or I really hate sharing my toys...My biggest pet peeve is people that lie all the time, as if telling the truth is so hard...ughhh...I consider liers an insult to my intelligence, especially when my gut tells me otherwise.  Nevertheless...I guess it's like my Granny would always say "...some people"  For me though, I try to be as transparent as possible in relationships/situations because I know what being lied to or taken advantage of feels like....Ya dig?

There was a time in college (Pre-google..I think) when I was a victim of a crime, A man I was dating was living on campus under an assumed identity.. It wasn't until after he had disappeared, that I learned the whole story from the campus police and Bank of America...It was all laid before me..because they thought I was involved... And I was, needless to say, devastated, embarrassed, hurt, mad...blah, blah, blah   He presented himself in such a manner that he had EVERYONE fooled.

Then there was the time..When I found out my first adult boyfriend (I was only 16..but I thought I was grown), the first guy I said the three most mis-used words on the planet to..."I Love You"   was indeed married.  OMG...get this, His wife happened to get her hair done at a well-known beauty shop and well, after her appointment one day he went inside to pay and, well...my friend told me...I was a side-chick and didn't even know it...what a sad situation...which could have all been avoided If I had known he was married.

There's more, but hey, we all have our own stories to tell or...NOT

I'm saying all of this to simply say..... These days it truly behooves us to do our homework before allowing others to enter our safety zone...  If when dealing with someone if the same things have continuously happened to others in their path...that...might be a little suspect...IJS

I used to consider giving people the benefit of the doubt..something to be proud of.or that there are more good people in this world than bad...but baby when you are met with a bad apple or two, you start loosing hope in people...period.

There's an analogy here somewhere, which I'll probably think of later, but right now...I'm processing this flow...

I'll be the first to admit, I've been known to be too trusting at times in the truest sense of it all....or, like someone else said "you are too nice".....But hey, we all have our shortcomings...Mine usually involve this old heart of mine that I just can't seem to stop wearing on my sleeve.

LOL...It's funny how you can tell someone has been through something...because they start speaking philosophically as if they've instantly become PhD's in Situationships and Relationships...LMBO Oh, but I digress

So, where do we go from here?  "All that I can say...Do do do do do do doooooo" LMBO Keep it pushing, stay focused and just be the best you, you know how to be...I still believe love conquers all.

That's my two cents...

A House Is Not a Home: Where Are My Keys?

One of my favorite Luther Vandross Songs is "A House is Not a Home".  There's this metaphoric presentation of the word "House" which is not necessarily talking about 4 walls or a place to lay your head. And, there's no denying Luther's voice just puts you in that frame of mind of wanting a love that makes the house a home. Not just someone to love, but someone to love you back for all the right reasons; not the superficial ones.

Which brings me to this burning question, how do we find the keys to a happy loving home? I mean social media will have you so messed up looking for answers...everyone claims to have the keys...I see videos of men bashing men, /women bashing men, men bashing women and women bashing women all for likes and follows...No one is who they claim to be..The simple question "Are you single?" which to me only has one of two answers,,,yes or no, seems to now have all kinds of grey areas...LOL  Just tonight I was talking with a friend and he worries about going into his 40's without a woman on his arms.  But he also shared that he spent some time hurting woman on purpose because failed relationships in his past hurt him badly. Sadly, he's not the only one I've heard this from...

Whenever I see posts from people celebrating anniversaries or just acknowledging their significant others I always wonder how did they find their keys? You know the keys to open up your house to make it a home....

While I'm not going to claim that I have the keys (otherwise I probably would have written a book...) I do know what keys do not fit my locks (cuz I tried to wiggle them all kinds of ways and they just did not fit).  I'm thinking that I may have stumbled upon one of the keys:

Learn from your mistakes ( in this context...know what keys do not fit the lock). Those mistakes had to be made in order to get to the right one...the right key.

OK, so  maybe the real key is knowing that none of the keys fit at first...when the right one comes along, It just might have to be filed down just a little in the right places to make it ready to fit the lock.

That's my two cents from the hopeless romantic a few days before "V" day...

Like I ALWAYS say...Life is too short and tomorrow is not promised, make sure the ones you love know that you know that they are loved.

Thank you for your continued love and support...

Do You Love What You Feel?: Don't Wait Up For The Change Up!!

My Thoughts on a Wednesday...

What drives you, gets you out of bed, are your reasons for doing what you do? Is it the cliche' "paper chase"? Is it Love or a Fantasy? Tonight I was asking myself that same thing...after receiving some news..."What am I doing this for?" Is it for fame and fortune? While music has been a part of my life since (and even before) I can remember,  it was something that was mine...it was personal.  It wasn't until I was literally drug into a studio that I realized this thing is meant to be...now, I have to constantly remind myself the reason why I walked through those doors in the first place...it was simply because of Love...with no expectations other than Love returned.

Can you say that you love your dream so much that you'd go out on a limb for it....or...step out on faith for it?   So in the name of Love..I believed, I sacrificed, I allowed myself to fall in love...say what you will, I did all of that.  Today though for some the definitions of love have changed and are different...but for me it's still the same....LOVE...

This love affair (if you will) with music has added a bunch of words to my musical resume like magazines, radio airplay, interviews, blogs, playlists, charts, videos, photo shoots, fans, stats blah blah blah...all new to me ( in some sense) but a blessing nonetheless because my reward has been love...what I give and what I receive

It is with that Love in mind that I keep pushing and keep striving to meet all of my goals because my motive has not changed from Day One...

Now Don't wait up for the change up...cuz baby...there's too much of that going around for the kid...there have been too many years and tears for me to try and change now...

Thank you for your love and support...We have a lot more work to do!!

Relax Relate Release: Learning your triggers can set you free!!

So once again, It's been a minute since I've written, but I thought I had a good excuse...I've been busy dealing with life and juggling a new job and trying my best not to neglect my music.  But then yeseterday it dawned on me...these entries are my story, my life and there just has to be time to share it...so, I usually think long and hard about what to share...on today though..I just don't know where to start, there's just sooooo much....

I'm excited about each new thing happening with my career and as I get closer and closer to accomplishing more goals, It's clear to me now more than ever...EVERYTHING happens for a reason and more times than not, when things do happen they do not end-up how we thought they would...that..my friends is simply because "we" are not in control.  If I didn't learn anything in 2017, I learned how to identify when enough is enough and to understand there are triggers to behaviors that can cause you to question your own abilities, sanity, and emotions when it comes to dealing with feeling out of control. For me those triggers seem to be centered around people who do and say things that seem to question my worth, loyalty, intentions and integrity.  You know that saying "You can't change anyone you can only change how you react to them"...Or something like that...LOL

Well, let me tell you, a whole lot of changes have been made with your girl.  I had to take a couple "Ls" and if that wasn't enough..for some strange reason, I felt as If I needed to blame myself for the things that were happening to me.  Anyway, I share a lot with those that connect with me, but there are some VERY personal matters that I hold inside (we all do) that if I were to say them out loud would make me feel too transparent and all vulnerable and things..While I'm not ready to air-out the specifics of my dirty laundry...I will say that I am no longer holding myself accountable for things I cannot control...

Anyway, My daughter recently came home for a quick visit and somehow we got on the topic of relationships and she was seeking my advice, but as she poured out her heart to me, she was explaining the very same issues I was dealing with that I was too embarrassed to put a voice to.  As she was talking, it took every ounce of strength not to break down right in front of her (but to do that would mean that I hadn't left that mess in 2017)...I have experienced some things, I thought I would never have to go through.....But the last 4 years or so, changed all of that.  Anyway, I realized at that moment...we go through things...but often times the things we experience can help someone else to not have to go down that road (if you will)....So, well I opened uppppp to her that night...I felt like it was important for her to hear that there is life after all of that stuff and her,my own or any one's happiness/self worth DOES NOT live in the hands/actions of others...we each hold that responsibility to discover that wihin ourself...Thus...everything happens for a reason.

The morning following my "purge" if you will, I realized that we must weather the storm to see that rainbow waiting on the other side...once we understand the reason for the storm is to live, learn and lend our life...Yesssss!!!~!

Relax, Relate...and Release!!!

Public Apology: "My Truth" is what I'm Living in

About a week or so ago, a friend of mine called and asked how I was doing and I matter-of-factually said "I am great" and started rattling off all of the great things that are happening in my music career.  After I finished, he said, "all of those things are wonderful Jayna, but how are you?" and then he texted me the picture above.  He said those eyes say something other than "I am great" at first, I  defended my pic, cuz, I like it and yah know I got some compliments about it...LOL... Anyway... I really thank God for friends like this because they are the ones that seem to know us better than we know ourselves. You know those people when you see them you just can't pretend with anymore because they know the real you?  So 2 1/2 hours later, I hung up the phone feeling overwhelmed with emotion and frustration because I am going through the process of closing another chapter in my life. and, I knew I had lied to my friend when I said "It's good though".  Later that day, Someone else told me to "Stop blaming myself for my mistakes and failed relationships"

Which leads me to this burning desire to make this Public Apology.  You see, my heart and my mind have raged an all out war against each other, which almost had me renting a room in the "sunken place" I was trying my hardest to show strength and to prove that Boss Lady's don't show emotions and feelings and these things that I have tucked away inside have not somehow shown in my eyes (the windows to my soul)... While the details of my fight are extremely personal, I do realize now that my strength does not lie inside of someone else.

Now I may be guilty of accepting (or overlooking) things because I feared the alternative, I do know that I have no control over the actions and choices of others...and even-more-so It is not my fault.

So, here it goes...Jayna Blackwell...I apologize - I am sorry for blaming me, myself and I!!!

Yes, the desire to apologize to myself had taken over... and for quite sometime I just knew somehow my career/my heart/my love/my choices were to blame... Yeah, I know...some of you were expecting something else....

BUT

For anyone else out there that feels as if the toxic situation or people in your life are that way because of something you did,  you couldn't be further from the truth.

Now, there's a lot going on in our world today...Natural disasters/Terrorist shootings/Madness in the White House, etc.....But, what I know right now today is true it was true yesterday, last week and will be true tomorrow and all of the other tomorrow's after that...."Tomorrow is not promised to any of us" and life is just too short to go through it wasting time not living in our truths.  Be true to yourself and those in your life.  Let everyone you care about know how you feel...If tomorrow never comes for you or them....You both will know the real authentic truth.

I Love You and that is as real as it gets!!!   Thank you for your love and support!!!

Know the Story B4 The Glory: On The Grind

I know, I know, It's been a while...well my friends I've had my nose to the grind...LOL...charge that to my head and not my heart...

For those of you that may not know, I am an Indie Recording Artist. While I am in the midst of a worldwide distsributuion campaign with the labels I am affiliated with, I have been blessed to have the support of an active team that believes in the success of this project and to be welcomed time and time again on radio stations and blog sites in support of our efforts. But, I must say if you think that all it took for me was to go into the studio and record music and then put it out, you are gravely mistaken.

LOL...this reminds me of a conversation I had once with a friend; she said that daily grunt work is for your team.  Well, My friend could'nt be more wrong.  There have been (and still are) days that I get up at 4am to record radio drops/prepare for interviews/promote and whatever else that needs to be done. I believe my team will only work as hard as I do, and baby, I do not take a day off.  I agreed to do an interview on Christmas day...I thought for a minute, that's a holiday, but then, I feel like what better day (while surrounded by family) to show the importance of the grind. The list of people that believe in me and the project is growing and there is no way I want to let them down.

You know that saying "Hard work pays off"  ...I am so rich in love and support.,,,Thank You!!

I am Officially on My First World-wide Tour: On The Radio (radio radio radio) - Grinding it out

During a recent interview someone asked "Are you on tour?" and I thought about it and I said "Yes" I am on my very first Worldwide Tour (virtually that is). During my "Worldwide Radio Tour" I have had stops in New York, Atlanta, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, California and even Nigeria and the UK to name a few; with plans for many more locations and stops along the way. The most stops I've had in one day have been three (so far) but I wouldn't change this part for nothing.

The other day my 2 youngest surprised me with a very special note...

So yeah...I'm gonna keep on grinding it out...'

You Best Believe: "Coming From Where I'm From"

Recently, I was watching one of my favorite movies "Love Jones" ..  I was thinking about when Darius said..'I don't have all the answers, just the questions"... So, that got me thinking about the here and the right now...knowing the questions allows you to prepare the answer, to be ahead of the game if you will.  At this very moment I am supporting the release of my new single "That's My Song Ft. Ken'Yaun" by C-Town Records and living the ups and downs of life; a kinda metamorphasis, but yet in the midst of the excitement there is yet work to be done. I'll be the first to say I'm not perfect and make mistakes. But like I always say, the real test is how you recover.

Recently I did an interview where I was asked "Do you still have that brush you used to sing into as a little girl?" My response was "...No, because I never thought I'd be here" Yes, I dreamed about this , but it just didn't magically happen, it was work and dedication that got me here; and most importantly the love and support of my family and friends. There were times I wanted to quit, but they were right there pushing me...sometimes literally...LMBO

I was born in Youngstown Ohio and spent some years in Cleveland and a few surrounding suburbs. we then moved to Oakland..My Jr. high music class was where I spent most of my time learning music and dreaming of the "one-day", but even though, my Mom loved music and had an extensive album collection, I was too afraid to tell here I wanted to sing professionally. I used to take the bus to Berkeley and hang out at Leopold's record store all the time.   I can go on...I do have a story to tell...but this entry is just not big enough...LMBO

Nevertheless....Your love and support is what drives me and that support for artists like me comes in many ways:

It Was all a Dream: I did read Word-Up Magazine

Last night (or this morning) I dreamt the same dream I've dreamt since I can remember, my songs were playing on the radio and I go crazy when I hear it and then I end up singing on a big stage with lights everywhere in front of a crowd of people...but then I realize....those things have and are actually happening. The first time I heard my song on the radio, I acted a fool at the .99 store in Oakland.....and I have sung on many stages... LMBO

One of my dear friends and I were talking about living a dream yesterday...My friends...It got a little emotional for me thinking that all of the things I thought were impossible as a child are actually a reality because of hard work and dedication ...THIS was all a dream (I used to read "Word-Up" magazine) and now it has manifested.... Dream Big..you just never know.

Today my reality is yesterday's dream... Today...I'm so blessed to have your love and support!! I've learned some lessons in this game...some the hard way but I'm still grinding still pushing and building relationships. One thing is clear today, people will be people and I can only be me; not perfect, I make mistakes, I may not get it right all the time. But my heart is true to this...it has been since DAY ONE....yes I think with my heart and not my head at times BUT I'm still living and learning...I'm just Jayna Blackwell (a dreamer) and that is as REAL as it gets. Peace and Love!

Be a part of the movement...we need your support in bringing back that real R&B and Hip-Hop we love and understand.... You with me?

Proceed with Caution: Here We Go Round The Merry-Go-Round

As a little girl, I loved riding the merry-go-round at the amusement parks and carnivals. It was something about going around in circles and waving to my Mom and Dad each time we passed them, that was exciting and fun.  We would wait in line to ride again and again. But, now that I'm an adult, I'm beginning to hate the idea of riding those merry-go-rounds and going round in circles...the point being once you travel around the full circle, you've seen everything and everyone and they have seen you...so, what's the point?

So, metaphorically speaking, how can you expect change if you keep riding that merry-go-round? In other words nothing changes. If you keep traveling that same road/circle.?  You get on, jump on that pretty horse that goes up and down and grin from ear to ear as you await the start of the ride. Once it's starts...you're going in circles until it stops waiving at the same people each time..... I want to get off this thing...I do, I do...

Soooo my friend...Guess what.. I'm jumping off and praying for the best possible outcome...you with me? Let's Go!!!

On the Radio: The Spin Cycle is where dreams happen

I remember the first time I heard my song on the radio...I was so full of emotions...I turned out the parking lot of a store in West Oakland, I turned up the car radio opened all of the doors, my kids and I were dancing, i was telling people to turn on their radios...the name of the store I'll have keep to myself because it could incrminate me... But seriously, i felt as if a dream had come true. This moment was one I played out in my head thousands of times as a little girl, so you can imagine that feeling when it actually happened.

But after that I leaned getting your song played is half the battle, keeping it in rotation is the key.  I have been blessed to have a few songs played on the airwaves, and it still gives me goosebumps and that look of pride from my family and friends is like none other.

So my friends, one of my singles has landed again on the CCG Radio Network"s Top 40 Playlist. Help me keep it in Rotation by calling and leaving a message to hear my single "In My Cool" by Jayna Blackwell

This Thang: It's in me Not on me

Today someone on FB asked me if I was a club promoter. My first reaction was...nooo I'm an artist dammit...I'm constantly pushing music...hello my pages explain who I am..."Google Me"!!!  But, then reality set in...I selflessly promote others; artists,clubs,events,etc... More than my own music. Will she stop????

Nawwww....cuz supporting others is just...."In me" and "Not on me" .... Along with me accomplishing my goals, I love to celebrate others' accomplishments as well. From this backgroung singing/ sideline promoting/ fellow artist supporting vocalist....You can't change that....

I'm Sensitive About My Sh*! - Everything Ain't For Everybody

I am sensitive about my sh*! Is what I know. I keep quiet on those that express their negative opinion about my efforts, although I do take well to constructive criticism, I refuse to change my course because of some negative feedback.  I think allowing negativity in any form to take you out of your character is just plain wrong and I refuse to even entertain the thought.  So with that being said, when I hear someone say, that artist is garbage or their music sucks, I'm reminded of the many differences and choices we have in this world. I may not like avocados or eat pork while someone else thinks those things are the best thing since sliced bread.  I may not choose to listen to trap music or country western, but others blast that music all day. My point my friend is simply "Everything ain't for everybody" ...

However, one must understand the power of the tongue and in this case social media. I would be wrong if I said that I did not care about putting out negative vibes against a fellow artist. DJ. Blogger, etc.  I simply would validate my clap back with the numbers (/fan/views/spins/likes/comments/...the stats)...they simply speak for them self

Count Your Blessings: Everything Happens for a Reason They Say...

Today while sitting in the park waiting for my girls to get out of school, I met a woman who shared the most profound story with me. Her story touched me so much that it inspired me to share it with you. Her name is Isabella and she gave me permission to tell you her story...

She started off telling me that she is a born again christian, but she never thought she'd become one of those "Jesus talking ladies,,,those women that gave Jesus credit for everything that happens in their life"  BUT...Her past life was not one to be proud of, so she said...She was on drugs, lost everything, blah, blah, blah...but 5 years ago she found Jesus and got to know him for herself..... (at this part of her story, I said to myself if she asks me for money I'm gonna scream) But something told me to sit there and listen to her story...So, she explained that she is not financially able to do a lot of the things she would like to, but Jesus always provides her with what she needs.... So the best part of her story is.... Her car is in the shop so she had been taking the bus and yesterday she didn't have enough bus fare to pick up her son from school. So, she got on the bus (the same bus she's been taking for a week) and asked the driver if he would let her ride and she promised to pay him back on her way home and the driver did, but gave her a look like he didn't believe her. So anyway, she went on to say that a friend gave them a ride home yesterday, so she wasn't able to pay back the fare.  Today, though she had just enough money to pay her fare as well as her fare from yesterday. Just as soon as she made up her mind to do just that, the devil put on her mind to not pay that fare from yesterday since that was all the money she had....well just then a gust of wind came and blew her money out of her hand and she had to run around the park chasing it trying to grab it.... After a few minutes of this, the wind died down and she was able to pick-up all of the money. You see I walked up just as she had collected all of her money, and I thought to myself..."why is this lady counting those dollar bills over and over?..."

What do you think was her lesson?  The fact that she shared her story with me, became her testimony and a lesson for me as well.  You see, earlier today I found myself complaining about my personal situation, how I want things to be better for me and blah blah.... but I was reminded today, that my needs have been taken care of everyday! I may not have or get everything I want, but I definitely have my needs met.  I believe Isabella (unbeknownst to her) was a messenger angel sent along my path to remind me of where my blessing flow.  Isabella called her "God story" small and stupid....I say it was one of the most beautiful stories I've heard, because in her eyes I saw hope and faith and in her story I found my lesson...My blessing!!!   Thank you Isabella!!

Listen Up!!! - Study Long and You Study Wrong

Up early reflecting...I've been through so much in the name of love and trust...man...at times I wonder what did I do to make him/her do me like that...but I've learned that I have to first look within at my own choices...I 'm grateful for the things I've done and gained in life. I have always believed people will be people, we all have our crosses to bear and lessons to learn. Do I wish I could re-write some of my chapters; yes...but they are all my story...The good the bad and the ugly...

2017 has started a bit rocky for your girl, and my circumstances have forced me to look within and to my Lord and Savior for answers to things I may be doing wrong or that I should change in order to prepare myself for the next phase of my life.  I have taken pride in the fact that I don't abuse drugs or alcohol and I treat people with respect, I'm not a thief nor have i chosen a profession that i can not discuss with my children and I've never been to jail, etc.....  But, I had to admit to my children that I don't have all of the answers all the time, and I am not superhuman.  I have tried to tailor my parenting and my adult life after the woman I admired my whole life; my Mom. She made it all seem so easy. Even though she worked two jobs we never seemed to go without and we were given most of what we wanted.  She never told us some of the struggles she faced and it was never apparent to us that she was struggling just like most single parents out there... Now that she has passed away and I am  "all grown up" it wasn't until one week ago today, that I finally understood that Mom's are human and we make mistakes. Often times we endure relationships or situations that are not the best for us thinking it's best for the children. I for one have made choices considering the welfare of my children over my own, not realizing at the time, I had options.

My point today is when faced with making decisions we always have options and our choices determine the road we travel to our pre-determined destination.  It's like that saying..."You take the high road and I take the low road..." I'm finding today that my choices need to change in order to take care of my priorities and to meet my goals.

Anyway, these words were on my heart to share with you.... "Treat people (especially the ones you love) as you would want to be treated!!"

Thank you for your love and support!!
